It’s starting to look and feel a lot like Spring! For many, that means it’s time to do the annual “spring cleaning.” But, did you ever think about spring-cleaning your refrigerator? Give your fridge some love this season! Freshen up with these 3 easy tips…
1. Keep fruits & veggies separate.
Fruits and vegetables maintain their peak freshness in the fridge when they are contained in separate compartments. Most refrigerators have specific areas to store fruits and vegetables apart from one another. Why? Because fruits need to stay dry (contained in areas of lower humidity), whereas veggies thrive in higher humidity. Double check the gauges in your refrigerator’s storage compartments to ensure they are set to the correct humidity levels!
2. When in doubt, throw it out!
When it comes to leftovers: if you can’t remember where it came from or when it got there, then it’s time for it to go! Also, don’t forget to check the expiration dates on unsuspecting items such as ketchup, pickles, salsas etc. Even condiments like these deserve to be enjoyed at their peak freshness!
3. Neutralize with baking soda.
Baking soda serves many functions…baking, cleaning, removing stains, whitening teeth, the list goes on! Add a new, opened box of baking soda to your refrigerator to eliminate odors quickly and easily. Don’t have a new box of baking soda handy? Add a few scoops of coffee grinds into a cup instead! For the freshest results, change out the box of baking soda (or coffee grinds) every 30 days.
