On March 8th we come together to celebrate the hard working women in our lives! Get to know the women behind some of our customer’s favorite shops…
Amy Scherber, Amy’s Bread
Amy’s Bread is a beloved NYC bakery that features hand-made crusty breads, morning pastries, unique sandwiches, healthy salads, decadent sweets and more! Everything is made by hand, with care and the freshest quality ingredients!
We love the Black & White Cake for special occasions. It is one of Amy’s bestselling cakes, and the first bite will tell you why! Valrhona cocoa & unsweetened chocolate lend their deep flavor to a rich, moist cake; sweet vanilla buttercream is the perfect counterpoint to all that chocolate decadence. But for an everyday treat – try the Black Olive Fougasse. Moist and chewy, this versatile bread is filled with olives and goes great with pasta dishes, meats and cheeses!
Maria Chang, To the World Farm
To the World Farm in Williamsburg is first and foremost a resource for fresh produce. The majority of the store is taken up by rows and rows of fresh vegetables; the colorful produce beckoning to you from the street as you walk by. Between the selection and the prices, you will be blown away by this place!
Pam Nelson, Maria Baugh, & Linda Lea, Butter Lane Cupcakes
Located at 123 E 7th St in New York, NY, Butter Lane is devoted to making you the perfect cupcake! With a focus on pure ingredients like real vanilla beans, pure cocoa and dark chocolate, Butter Lane gives foodies something to sink their teeth into besides straight sugar (although they have some of that, too!). Each cupcake is available in vanilla, chocolate, or banana cake base.
Try our favorite: “The Elvis” – a peanut butter frosted cupcake topped with marshmallows. Have it with the banana cake base for the best results!
Noushin Ebrani, Heavenly Tea Leaves
At Heavenly Tea Leaves, located in Great Neck, NY, tea is not just a beverage – it’s a way of life. After founder, Noushin Ebrani, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, she started to incorporate freshly-brewed tea into a healthy, organic regimen. Her passion for tea blossomed into a business, specializing in sourcing natural and organic teas with two simple priorities in mind: quality and freshness.
We recommend Heavenly Tea Leaves Coconut Tea Sampler for a delicately sweet treat that will have you thinking about the beach ?
Unna Bakery, Ulrika Pettersson
After fifteen years working in design, owner Ulrika Pettersson, decided to switch careers and do what she loves most – bake! She started her own bakery, creating traditional Swedish cookies using her mother and grandmother’s family recipes. The cookies are handmade and elegant, using only a few high quality ingredients (and never any preservatives). They have been described as “delectable, refined, and airy,” packing a real punch in a small bite!
It’s hard to pick a favorite, but if we had to choose one from Unna Bakery…we’d pick the buttery, crumbly Raspberry Cave Cookie for its traditional Swedish routes! The Raspberry Cave is a staple of Swedish “fikas” (a quick break with coffee and often a cookie). You can find us in the break room with our feet up, enjoying one of these delicious bites.
Enjoy a little quiet time for yourself…
…then be inspired!
Happy International Women’s Day ?
