Caffarel is one of Italy's most historical chocolate companies, founded by Pier Paul Caffarel in 1826 on the edge of Torino in the northern Italian region of Piemonte. Mr. Paolo Caffarel and his young son bought an old abandoned factory in Turin so they could launch their great business idea: transforming cocoa into chocolate, the “food of the Gods.” They are known as the first to prepare gianduja, a decadent chocolate-hazelnut pairing. Caffarel believes the finest cocoa from Ecuador and Ghana and the best Piedmont hazelnuts, grown near their plant, are the most important ingredients for Caffarel uniqueness. They continue to produce their chocolate according to the same artisan culture that inspired Paul Caffarel back in 1826, preserving both the timing and methods of traditional production.
